Computors Reject Proposal to Create A Qubic Powered Debit Card

A proposal to send funding for the creation of a Qubic Network-powered debit card has been rejected by Computors, who voted overwhelmingly against it.

Qubic Computors have voted against a proposal to send funding for the creation of 451Card, a Qubic-based debit card. The voting was concluded at the end of epoch 166. A total of 517 Computors voted, with 447 voting against it and 70 voting in support.

The Proposal was sent by a team of builder, who says they have 8 years of experience in blockchain, payments, and fintech and have worked in many projects across Europe and South America.

They had asked for 49,382,716,494 QUBIC, which will convert to $80,000 at 1620 USD per billion QUBIC. They said their expenses will cover WebApp development, Security Audit & Quality Assurance at $40,000. Marketing and launch for $10,000. Cards Supplier fee for $30,000.

The proposing team had said the card will be backed by a bank in Thailand and will have three tiers. Lite Card for basic benefits, Platinum Card for wider availability, standard benefits, and Black Card for premium benefits (higher limits, concierge services, rebates).

Also, the black card will have full support for contactless, e-commerce, and POS payments, with ATM being available only to the Black cardholders. And it will also secure privacy. KYC for getting the card would be optional, depending on each user’s jurisdiction.

A presentation was held on Discord on Tuesday, a day before the end of the epoch, to explain to the community and answer questions. The video of the discussion has been uploaded to YouTube.

It is unknown if the team behind the proposal will put it up for voting again.
